Governor Parkinson Comments on High October Revenues

Statement

Date: Oct. 29, 2010

The following is a statement from Governor Mark Parkinson regarding the October revenues being approximately $12.6 million over estimates:

"For the third straight month, our state revenues have exceeded our expectations, accumulating a $75 million surplus for this fiscal year. This news is not just an example of how the responsible budget that was passed by the bipartisan coalition in the legislature is working, but also how our economy is heading in the right direction.

"This coming Tuesday, the Consensus Revenue Estimating Group will meet to project the outlook of the following year's budget. As we learn more about our state's future responsibilities, my administration will remain focused on doing all that we can in the coming months to keep Kansas on the road to recovery."
